Accessibility Statement

Leesburg Wineries wants everyone to be able to plan a visit to Loudoun wine country. This statement explains the accessibility target for this site, what is implemented today, and where the known limits are.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA across the guide.

What is implemented

  • Semantic page structure with header, navigation, main, and footer landmarks, including a skip link that moves focus to main content.
  • Keyboard-operable controls with visible focus styles on links, buttons, and form fields, including map pins, filters, day planners, shortlist reordering, sharing, and passport stamping.
  • A respect for "reduce motion": animations and transitions collapse when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Visually-hidden labels, polite status updates, and ARIA attributes on interactive controls such as the mobile menu, search, saving, copying, sharing, and passport status.
  • Progressive enhancement: venue listings, itineraries, and trail pages remain readable with JavaScript off; controls that require JavaScript stay hidden until they can work.
  • Venue pages surface the access facts we collect — wheelchair access, step-free tasting areas, and parking surface — in a dedicated section.

Looking for step-free tasting, parking-surface, and property notes? Use the separate Accessible Tasting Rooms guide. This statement covers the website itself.

Known limitations

Be aware of the following:

  • Venue accessibility facts (step-free access, wheelchair access, parking surface, and similar) are reported by the venues themselves and are not independently audited by us. Please confirm directly with the venue before a visit that depends on them.
  • The interactive passport check-in and combined directory filters require JavaScript. Without it, venue listings, itinerary routes, and trail content remain available, but those optional enhancements are unavailable.
  • We have not yet commissioned a full third-party accessibility audit. This statement reflects our own testing to date.
