Because the wineries are spread across rural western Loudoun, most visitors hire a chauffeured ride or bring a designated driver. These operators run sedans, limos, party buses, and full-day wine tours across the county.
Heads up: Most wineries require hired transportation and large groups to reserve in advance, and many ask that all alcohol stay on the vehicle. Call every planned stop before you roll.

Rideshare, Metro & getting home safely
- Uber and Lyft are reliable in eastern Loudoun (Sterling, Ashburn, Leesburg) and in-town, but scarce at remote western hilltop wineries — don't count on an easy ride back.
- Metro's Silver Line reaches Ashburn/Loudoun Gateway/Dulles — handy for east-county taprooms or meeting a tour, not for rural wineries.
- Virginia's BAC limit is 0.08% (you can be charged lower if impaired). A sober driver or hired tour is the standard plan for a reason.
