Your privacy matters. This page explains what Leesburg Wineries does — and does not — collect.
What we collect
Most of this guide is a static information site you can read without telling us anything. We do not run ads and do not set advertising cookies. The personal information we do handle is limited to email addresses you choose to send us (see Contacting us) and, if you subscribe, email addresses you submit directly to our newsletter provider.
Your shortlist (saved venues)
If you tap the save icon on a venue, that shortlist is stored only in your own browser, using its local storage on this device. It never leaves your device, is never sent to our server, and is not tied to your name or email. Clearing your browser data removes it. (Sharing a shortlist with a friend is opt-in and works by a link you choose to copy or send — the list itself still lives in your browser until then.)
Your passport stamps
The digital passport also stores stamps and any private tasting notes only in this browser. Notes are never included in restore links, badge files, public pages, or analytics; they enter the print view only when you explicitly print your passport certificate. A venue check-in can use geolocation to confirm you are near the venue, but your coordinates are compared only on the device and never transmitted to us. Analytics receives only an anonymous event that a stamp occurred and whether GPS confirmed it — never your location. Restore links encode stamp state in the URL fragment after #, which is not sent to our server in normal web requests. If passport email capture is enabled and you submit it, your email and restore link go only to the configured newsletter provider.
Analytics
If analytics are enabled, we use a privacy-friendly, cookieless service (Plausible) that does not use cookies and cannot identify you across sites. It records aggregate page views and referrers, and — because we load the outbound-links variant — anonymous interaction events such as outbound-link clicks and named feature events (for example, that a passport stamp, a share, or a newsletter signup happened). These events carry no user identifier, no cross-site tracking, and no location data.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, the signup form submits your email address directly to our hosted newsletter provider and is used only to send the newsletter. We never sell or share it, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe. While no provider is connected, the form falls back to a mailto link that opens your own email client.
Affiliate & outbound links
Some outbound links — to lodging, tour operators, and venues — may be affiliate or partner links, and clicking one may pass a referral tag to the destination. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details. Once you leave this site, the destination's own privacy policy applies.
Contacting us
The mailto links on this site (corrections, venue listing updates, and the newsletter fallback) open in your own email client. Anything you send us that way is email and is retained as email; we do not publish or share correspondence.
