You don't need a car — or a designated driver — for this one. Historic downtown Leesburg packs six tasting rooms into a few walkable brick-sidewalk blocks, which makes it the LoCo Ale Trail's most convenient leg and the natural finish to a day that started out at the rural wineries. Pull a German lager and a Bavarian pretzel at Black Hoof on King Street (dogs welcome on the seasonal patio, outside food encouraged), then walk a block to Loudoun Brewing's family-run nano-brewery — voted 'Loudoun's Favorite Brewery' by county consumers. Crooked Run Fermentation is steps away, pouring experimental coolship sours and natural wine with wood-fired pizza from next door; Dynasty Brewing sits at Loudoun and Church with its Virginia-Craft-Beer-Cup-winning 838 Stout. Break up the beer with Wild Hare's circa-1840 log Cider Cabin (Shenandoah Valley heritage apples, dogs inside), then close at October One Vineyard's downtown wine shop — 100% estate-grown fruit from the owners' Bluemont vineyard, poured a block from dinner. Park once, crawl a few rooms, and end on King Street. It is the only LoCo trail where getting home safely is genuinely easy.
At a glance
- The whole trail is within a few walkable blocks of the King Street courthouse square — park once and crawl.
- It mixes three breweries, a hard-cider log cabin, a downtown wine shop, and a nano-brewery in one short loop.
- This is the one part of Loudoun wine country where rideshare home is genuinely reliable.
Getting around: No designated driver required — this is a walking trail. Park in the town garage by Loudoun and King, or ride in; King Street's restaurant row is right there for dinner.
